THE NEXT WORLD SAXOPHONE CONGRESS
Registration is now open for the next World Congress in St. Andrews Scotland.The XVI World Saxophone Congress will be held at University of St Andrews in Scotland. This event was born in Chicago in the seventies and has traveled across three continents.
The last congress was held in 2009 in the city of Bangkok (Thailand).
Francisco Martinez has participated in this activity since 1992. The university town of St Andrews is an exceptionally attractive place to hold the World Saxophone Congress XVI. The University's beautiful main concert hall seats nearly 1000 and we have convenient rehearsal facilities, a wide variety of performance venues of all sizes, and plentiful accommodation and restaurants all within easy walking distance in this charming and ancient coastal town.

The University of St Andrews gives its full support to this event, which coincides with the University’s 600th anniversary celebrations and with the Olympic Games in London. The University Music Centre will provide its services, facilities and hospitality for the Congress. We will host an internationally renowned orchestra, symphonic wind band and jazz ensembles for gala evening performances.

He was the founder of the Association of Spanish Saxophonists, and organizer of many activities to promote the saxophone in Spain. In 1987 he organized in Alicante the II European Saxophone Meeting, where the Sax-Ensemble performed for the first time..gif)
He is one of the saxophonists who has contributed most to the saxophone repertoire in the last 30 years. His activity has led to the world premiere of 150 works for saxophone and the publication of 14 CDs and 2 DVDs so far. He has performed in over 15 countries in the Americas, Asia and Europe and has performed five world premieres of concerts with orchestra.
