Closing concert of "Music for the Third Millennium"
The next Saturday December 17 Sax-Ensemble Group closing cycle for the Third Millennium Music in the Theater "Buero Vallejo" of Alcorcon.
The program is a special concert with five of the best scores of the group, with a staff of 8 saxophones, 2 percussion, piano and director José Luis Temes.
The program will be broadcast on TVE and Radio Classic.
THE NEXT WORLD SAXOPHONE CONGRESS
Registration is now open for the next World Congress in St. Andrews Scotland.The XVI World Saxophone Congress will be held at University of St Andrews in Scotland. This event was born in Chicago in the seventies and has traveled across three continents.
EUROPEAN DOCTOR IN MUSICOLOGY
Francisco MartÍnez has been recently European PhD in musicology with "Cum Laude" outstanding. His research deals with the saxophone work of Luis de Pablo, composer who has written 25 works with the participation of this instrument.The thesis has been directed by Dr. Enrique Muñoz (Univesidad Autonoma de Madrid) and Dr. Claudia Colombatti (University of Rome 2 Tor Vergata).
NEW DVD LUIS DE PABLO: "Music for Saxophone
The Canticum label haunches new DVD on the work for saxophone composer Luis de Pablo Bilbao. In this recording works Francisco Martinez plays “Oculto” (saxophone solo) and the French Overture (saxophone and flute).

He was the founder of the Association of Spanish Saxophonists, and organizer of many activities to promote the saxophone in Spain. In 1987 he organized in Alicante the II European Saxophone Meeting, where the Sax-Ensemble performed for the first time..gif)
He is one of the saxophonists who has contributed most to the saxophone repertoire in the last 30 years. His activity has led to the world premiere of 150 works for saxophone and the publication of 14 CDs and 2 DVDs so far. He has performed in over 15 countries in the Americas, Asia and Europe and has performed five world premieres of concerts with orchestra.
